This is my last week at work before I head to South Dakota and New York to visit my family and Erin’s respectively. Then it’s straight to Ecuador. My boss decided in this last week to utilize my help on some large projects, the first being pouring a cast of an African elephant skull. It’s an impressive skull, enormous by any standard except that of a whale. It’s also a little bittersweet since this was shot by a trophy hunter, an act that I like my boss feel is an enormous and sad waste. However the skull is impressive and it’s something most people don’t get to see up close, so I’ve been pretty excited to work with it. So far it’s just a rough pour with seem lines and no final paint but the scale is impressive and the whole thing is an interesting piece.
